Burton Albion would welcome athletics legend Usain Bolt for a trial, according to chairman Ben Robinson.

The eight-time Olympic gold medallist - who brought his athletics career to an end last week in the World Championships in London - is set to train with Borussia Dortmund, according to the Sun.

And in an interview with SunSport , Brewers chairman Robinson said he is sure Nigel Clough would be interested in taking Bolt on for a trial with Albion if the opportunity arose.

Speaking ahead of Burton 's Championship trip to Middlesbrough tonight, he said: "I’m sure we would (offer a trial) and that the manager would. He’s quick, if nothing else!

"He’s done great for his sport athletics and if you look at Adam Gemili who was in the 4x100m relay he played football when he was younger.

"We would be very interested, obviously.

"I’m sure the manager would give him a trial. He’s done a tremendous amount for his sport.

"If he can apply the same amount of enthusiasm and dedication to soccer then who knows what might lie ahead?

"The standard is very high (in the Championship) and obviously he would need a level of talent to get his place in the team."

Bolt picked up a bronze medal in his final competitive 100m race in the recent World Championships, before pulling up with a hamstring injury in the Jamaican men's team's attempt for 4x100m relay gold.
