A Burton Albion XI will face Ryan Austin's Kidsgrove Athletic in a friendly match on Tuesday August 7 - three days after their first game of the League One season.

The Brewers will take a side to the Novus Stadium for a 7pm kick-off against Evo-Stik NPL Division One South side Kidsgrove, who are managed by ex-Albion defender Austin.

The game will take place barely 72 hours after Burton's first League game of the season - at home to Rochdale - finishes at the Pirelli Stadium, meaning the Athletic clash is likely to feature players on the fringe of the senior squad and some Burton youngsters.

Burton faced Kidsgrove in their first pre-season friendly last summer, running out 5-0 winners thanks to goals from Matty Lund, Marcus Dinanga, Jackson Irvine and a double from Ben Fox.

Before their season begins this time around, Albion's first team still have fixtures against Kidderminster Harriers (today, 7.45pm), Aston Villa (July 21), Solihull Moors (July 24) and Cardiff City (July 28) to come, while a Brewers XI have got games at Alfreton Town (July 25) and Matlock Town (July 31) scheduled.
