The rugby union Premiership schedule for the new season has thrown up a fixture clash - with Burton Albion's trip to Coventry City in League One.

Coventry share the Ricoh Arena stadium with rugby side Wasps.

And following the publication of Wasps' fixtures for the 2018-19 campaign this morning, there are currently four Sky Blues matches that are affected - including Albion's scheduled trip to the Ricoh on Saturday March 9.

On the same day, Wasps are due to take on Newcastle Falcons at home.

A statement on the Coventry website said: "Coventry City will now look to work with Wasps, the Ricoh Arena and the EFL to schedule these games accordingly to ensure both teams fulfil their fixtures with the minimum impact on our supporters.

"We will update supporters further as soon as we are able to."

The Sky Blues home games against Peterborough United, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury Town are also currently affected.

Albion's last trip to the Ricoh Arena saw them clinch a valuable 2-0 win in January 2016, with Calum Butcher and Stuart Beavon getting the goals.
