Jon McLaughlin is on trial with Burton Albion's Championship rivals Hull City ahead of the new season.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper was released by the Brewers at the end of last term, having been a virtual ever-present between the sticks during Albion's back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship.

He made 45 appearances in all competitions in 2016/17 as Albion secured an unlikely survival in the second tier - but he was forced to miss the final four games of the campaign with a shoulder injury.

And having been without a club since his contract ran out at the Pirelli Stadium last month, McLaughlin has now linked up with Hull during their pre-season camp in Portugal.

The ex-Bradford City keeper - who is understood to have turned down two new contract offers at Burton last summer - had his first training session with the Tigers this morning.

Hull's first-choice stopper, Eldin Jakupovic, is on the verge of a move to Premier League side Leicester City.
