Former Burton Albion manager Neil Warnock has won the Championship's manager of the month award with current side Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds are the only side in the division with a 100% league record, winning all of their five games so far - an impressive start given their 12th-placed finish last term.

Cardiff began their run at the Pirelli Stadium, seeing off the Brewers with a late Kenneth Zohore strike the difference in that 1-0 win.

Wins over big-spending duo Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa followed, before the only blot on their copybook so far coming at the hands of the Brewers - a 2-1 second-round Carabao Cup defeat.

Warnock saw off tough competition in the running for the award with Thomas Christiansen (Leeds United), Nuno Espírito Santo (Wolves) and Mick McCarthy (Ipswich Town) also nominated.

Fellow Bluebird Nathaniel Mendez-Laing won player of the month, with his four goals in five games bagging him the award ahead of the likes of Darnell Fisher (Preston North End), Billy Sharp (Sheffield United) and Martyn Waghorn (Ipswich Town).

"This is an achievement for all of us at the club, from the top to the bottom," Warnock told Cardiff's website on Friday morning.

"We've made some good signings and integrated them quickly into the group, which isn't always easy. I'm delighted with the award - for the whole club and our fantastic fans."
