Former Notts County winger Elliott Hodge is one of three players currently on trial with Burton Albion.

The 22-year-old is taking part in the Brewers' pre-season training, and could feature in the friendly at Mickleover Sports this evening (Friday, 7.00pm).

He is joined by ex-Nottingham Forest forward Luke McCormick and Tomas Egert in having a trial at Burton this summer.

Hodge - the son of former England international Steve Hodge - made four appearances in all competitions for Notts County last season, having been signed in August 2017 following a trial.

He then went out on loan to National League side Alfreton Town, before being released by Kevin Nolan's Magpies in May.

So what did Magpies boss Nolan have to say about Hodge when they signed him a year ago?

"Everyone who has spoken to me about Elliott has been asking when we're going to sign him," he told the Nottingham Post in August.

"We had an agreement with his agent about him coming in and spending a good pre-season with us.

"We wanted to get to know him as a lad, as someone who has previously been here. It was about really getting to know him.

"We've seen him in different games against different kinds of opposition.

"When you see players who are direct and quick, people love to see that - they get fans off their feet.

"Ells has been great, but the first thing about him is his attitude is first class."
