Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen is expecting a tough match when Burton Albion visit on Saturday, but has insisted he will still implore his side to go for the win.

Albion make the trip up the M1 for Saturday afternoon's clash with the Elland Road outfit in what will be only the third competitive meeting between the pair.

Burton won the last one, effectively ending Leeds's play-off hopes when Marvin Sordell and Michael Kightly fired the Brewers to a 2-1 victory in April.

Back in October, Leeds won 2-0 at Elland Road with a late Chris Wood penalty and Soulemayne Doukara effort seeing off a stubborn Brewers.

But this time it's a different Leeds outfit, with a new boss following Garry Monk's departure for Championship promotion rivals Middlesbrough and an overhauled squad following Chris Wood's £15 million departure to Burnley last month.

The Whites head into Saturday's match unbeaten, with an impressive three away wins notched up already, but a home win proving elusive.

Burton aren't on a bad run of form either, having entered the international break on a three-game unbeaten spell following wins over Birmingham, Cardiff and a draw to Sheffield Wednesday.

And former Barcelona striker Christiansen has encouraged his Leeds side to go for the win, be patient in the process - and rise to the challenge of playing a side that is typically hard to break down.

Christiansen also warned his side that they need to kick into gear early following a two week spell off over the international break, and urged them to focus on the task in hand.

"Of course I will always go for the win, it doesn’t matter who we play against," Christiansen said at Friday afternoon's press conference.

"And that will not change for tomorrow. I know it will be a tough game, a team that everyone expects us to beat, but that also proves and shows that we have to be of the level we have been in the last games if we want to take the three points.

"I believe that the players just have to continue, I don’t want the players to relax.

"They have to be focused on the league to take the three points.

"What I expect from the players is no less than what they have done in the last few games, so I believe that we will make a good performance.

"But it’s not the same playing against Burton than it is against Sunderland or away at Nottingham Forest.

"From the way that they play, from the way that they face the game.

"So we have to be focused, and especially we have to be patient."
