Burton Albion have four enquiries in for transfer targets as they look to bolster their ranks for the Championship season.
The Brewers opened their second campaign at this level with a 1-0 defeat at home to Cardiff City yesterday, Bluebirds striker Kenneth Zohore curling in a fine winner in the 87th minute.
Ex-Albion boss Neil Warnock's side truly took hold of the game in the final half-hour as his substitutes off the bench made a telling impact in stretching the Burton defence, who looked set to hold the impressive Bluebirds at bay.
Clough will be hopeful that his players, too, can change games when introduced late on in games this term.
To help that, the Brewers maanger is looking to add to his squad - and he is keen to add four new faces to the frame, with record signing Liam Boyce set for a long spell on the sidelines.
And with close to four weeks still remaining of the summer transfer window, Clough says the work is being put in to bring more players to the Pirelli Stadium.
"We need four players in," he said following Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Cardiff.
"We've made enquiries for the four players - three loans and one permanent.
"So we are just waiting for decisions.
"People are sometimes reluctant to let them come out this early in the window for the loans - but we'll keep pressing next week."
