Burton Albion have had calls about several first-team players this summer - but the Brewers are under no pressure to let them go.
Nigel Clough confirmed ahead of tonight's clash with Birmingham City that there has been interest from several League One clubs in Matt Palmer, Tom Naylor, Damien McCrory and captain John Mousinho, who signed a new one-year deal over the summer.
That quartet have all started at least one Championship game so far this season for Albion, with all but Mousinho - out with a hamstring injury - playing the full 90 minutes at Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
All four have been with Burton since the League Two title-winning campaign of 2014/15, and are still making impacts in the team, especially with suspensions and injuries biting at the start of this season and with Clough still looking to bring several new faces into the squad.
But Clough insists that, even should those new signings come in, there is no guarantee that any of Albion's current players will be leaving.
Mentioning that there has been interest 'all summer' in Palmer, he adds: "There have been calls about other players as well.
"It's the lads on the fringe. We've had calls about Tom Naylor, John Mousinho will attract a lot of interest in the League One clubs, Damien McCrory as well.
"It's those sorts of players that we've had calls about.
"We have to hold onto them. They are playing at the moment - three of them are in the team, so we have to hold onto them at least.
"And it might well be that they stay anyway - that's not a problem.
"We're not under any great pressure financially, so we'll do what's best for us.
"We like to look after players and make sure that they're playing.
"But I think in these circumstances, we look after ourselves first."
