Former Burton Albion loan striker Cauley Woodrow has joined Bristol City on a season-long loan from parent club Fulham.

Woodrow - a transfer target for the Brewers this summer as they chased a second loan move - looked to be nearing a return to the Pirelli Stadium, but that move never materialised and he now joins Albion's rivals Bristol.

The forward bagged five goals in 14 matches on the way to a memorable Championship survival last term after joining on loan in January, and there had been talk over the summer of the Brewers going back in for him, with the situation developing over the last couple of days.

The 22-year-old had his contract extended for another year to 2019 by Fulham in June, and was involved with the England under-21 side in the European Championships during the close season.

Nigel Clough had previously spoken about hoping to have had Woodrow with Albion in time for Tuesday's 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough.

Instead, at this morning's press conference, he revealed that Woodrow was heading elsewhere, before confirming that Albion have agreed two loan deals with clubs. They are now waiting on final decisions from the players.
