Former Burton Albion loanee Sean Scannell looks set to join Bradford City ahead of the League One season.

Huddersfield Town winger Scannell signed for the Brewers on a season-long loan deal last August, going on to make 19 appearances in all competitions.

A groin injury sustained in training, though, saw his inconsistent stint at the Pirelli Stadium ended prematurely in January, when he returned to Premier League side Huddersfield.

According to the Yorkshire Post, the 27-year-old is now close to sealing a permanent switch to the Bantams, with talks between the two clubs having reportedly taken place earlier in the week.

Bradford have made a host of signings already this summer as they target promotion out of the third tier, including securing the services of Hope Akpan after he decided not to sign a new deal with the Brewers.

Nigel Clough confirmed yesterday that they are also interested in a possible move for Albion midfielder Matty Lund, who spent the final three-and-a-half months of last season on loan with the Bantams.
