Bradford City and Scunthorpe United are interested in a move for Burton Albion midfielder Matty Lund - and the Brewers have fielded an enquiry over the Northern Ireland international.

Lund was linked with Albion's League One rivals yesterday, with the Sun reporting that both were considering moves for the 29-year-old, who came off the bench in Tuesday's friendly win at Kidderminster Harriers.

Nigel Clough says an enquiry has been made for the midfielder he signed on a two-year deal last summer, and suggests a decision could come down to whether the deal works for the club and the situation in which it would leave their midfield.

The Brewers boss also confirmed that Albion have not had any enquiries from Blackburn Rovers about defender Kyle McFadzean, who was linked with the Championship outfit last week.

"We've not had anything from Blackburn about Kyle," said Clough.

"But we have had some interest in Matty Lund from those two clubs (Bradford and Scunthorpe).

"It'll depend if the offer is right for the club, whether we take it or not.

"We haven't had an offer, we have just had an enquiry.

"He's only got a year left, so it would be a permanent.

"It'll once again be, does Ben Fox fill in for that sort of role, and Joe Sbarra - and about balancing the books."

Lund was Albion's first summer signing in 2017 ahead of the club's second successive Championship campaign.

He began the season in the side, but saw injuries, illness and a struggle for consistency impact his involvement thereafter.

His final Burton appearance of 2017-18 came in the 1-1 draw at Brentford in November, and he joined Bradford on loan in January, going on to score two goals in 10 appearances for the Bantams.
