Sunderland are being linked with a move for Celtic winger Lewis Morgan, a reported previous transfer target of Burton Albion.

New Black Cats manager Jack Ross - who will pit his side against the Brewers in League One next season - is said to be looking to bring Morgan to the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan, according to the Scottish Sun.

Ross and Morgan previously worked together at St Mirren, when the Scotland international was linked with the Brewers ahead of their second Championship campaign.

The Scottish Sun suggested that Albion had two bids rejected for the now-21-year-old last summer.

He scored 18 goals in 42 appearances for the Scottish Championship outfit in 2017-18, having spent the second half of the campaign back on loan with the club following a January move to Celtic.

Reports now suggest Morgan is a loan target for Sunderland as they aim to make an immediate return to English football's second tier.

But the story in the Scottish Sun says Ross "has been told by Hoops counterpart Brendan Rodgers he must wait until at least mid-July for a decision".
