Tom Naylor looks set to be joined at Portsmouth by Newcastle United youngster Sean Longstaff.

The 20-year-old Magpies midfielder is reportedly set for a loan switch to League One Pompey, according to the Chronicle.

Longstaff made 45 appearances on loan at Blackpool in the third tier last season, scoring nine goals.

And while he is understood to have interested several Championship sides, it looks like Portsmouth will secure the services of Longstaff ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, when they will be pushing for promotion.

The Newcastle midfield man may partner departing Burton Albion star Naylor in the middle of the park, with Naylor set for a role as Pompey's holding midfielder.

Albion's first meeting with the Fratton Park side next season comes away on Tuesday, October 23.
