Burton Albion are being linked with a move for Dundee United midfielder Scott Fraser after he confirmed he will leave the club this summer.

The Brewers were one of several clubs, including Albion's League One rivals Peterborough United and Blackpool, to be named as sides reportedly interested in the Tangerines star earlier this month.

The Dundee Evening Telegraph have since reported that Burton "have now jumped to the front of the queue" for the 23-year-old.

But the Burton Mail understands that no transfer activity is expected imminently at the Pirelli Stadium, for Fraser or any other player.

As previously reported, Albion's summer movement will be largely dependent on the futures of their current out-of-contract players and some of their other key names.

Dundee United confirmed on Tuesday that Fraser would be leaving the club after 12 years, with his current contract set to expire in this transfer window.

He scored six goals from midfield in 32 appearances for the Scottish Premiership side in 2017-18, despite missing three months with a cruciate tear.

"Thanks to all my team-mates, coaches and managers over the years," said Fraser after confirming his departure.

"I now feel the time is right for me to move on in order to improve as a player by playing at the highest level I possibly can."

Burton are still waiting for confirmation from any of their six out-of-contract players - Tom Naylor, Damien McCrory, Jake Buxton, Hope Akpan, Lloyd Dyer and Harry Campbell - over their futures for next season.

When asked earlier this month if he expected many incomings ahead of the 2018-19 season if Albion's current squad was largely maintained, Nigel Clough said: "No, no.

"There won't be funds for transfer fees and things like that anyway, so it'll be either free transfers or loans.

"We've got to wait and see what the six (out-of-contract players) do first.

"It'll depend on if those six stay, that'll pretty much use our budget up."
