Arsenal are said to have won the race to land Sunderland's Sam Greenwood.

TEAMtalk say the 16-year-old has agreed to join Unai Emery's side having rejected a contract at the Black Cats. Sunderland will be due compensation from the Gunners for the England under-16 international, however it will be vastly below his market value.

Greenwood enjoyed a prolific season in Sunderland's under-18s, notching six goals and setting up six in 15 appearances.

Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Liverpool were all also reportedly interested in landing the forward.

Doncaster Rovers have rejected two six-figure bids for John Marquis - with Burton Albion's League One rivals Peterborough United said to have offered £750,000 for the striker.

According to the Yorkshire Post , Aberdeen offered £500,000 while Posh upped the bidding with Rovers quick to reject the offers.

Marquis notched 14 goals in League One last season for Rovers, who finished comfortably in mid-table.
