Blackpool, Western-super-Mare, Skegness, Coalville – one of these places doesn’t belong in the list, or does it?
These towns have become known for their beaches and Coalville, in North West Leicestershire, is no exception, despite sitting roughly 73 miles away from the sea.
Coalville by the Sea will be returning to the town again this year, as the grass area at Needhams Walk will be transformed into a sand glittered coastal scene on Friday, August 4.
Coalville building company, P&R Building Supplies have created a giant sandpit that will be filled with buckets and spades and will be open on the day from 11am until 4pm, completely free of charge.
Further family entertainment is available through puppets, balloon modelling, face painting, a bouncy castle and plenty of games throughout the afternoon, organised by North West Leicestershire County Council.
Hermitage FM, community radio for Coalville and Ashby will be supplying music on the day and all you need to bring with you, other than the kids, is something to sit on.
A North West Leicestershire Councillor, Alison Smith has lauded the day, explaining that: "There’s nothing better than a family day out at the beach, especially when the beach comes to you.
"Coalville by the Sea is a very popular event and another fun-filled day is planned for Friday, August 4. Bring along your family and friends and enjoy a great, free day out.
"A huge thank you this year to P&R Building Supplies who have sponsored all the sand used on our beach this year. The district council is committed to brining exciting, free events to the town as part of our Choose Coalville project, and we look forward to seeing lots of faces at the event."
The event is being held at Needhams Walk, in Coalville which can be found between Belvoir Road and the town centre car park, just off the High Street.
