The new CBeebies Land Hotel at Alton Towers Resort officially swung open its doors for the first time on Saturday, July 8. Parents and their little ones were given exclusive access to the four-floor, 76-room hotel.

Thirty-four of the rooms are themed around CBeebies’ most-loved shows including Postman Pat, Something Special, In the Night Garden, Swashbuckle and Octonauts.

In each room, there are separate areas for adults and children.

Edward Neville, creative lead for hotels and accommodation for Towers’ parent company, Merlin, said: “We invite the guests to step through a magical rainbow into a land beyond their child’s wildest imagination.

“Everything here revolves around storytelling and links to the programmes and the brands we’ve got.”

Popular CBeebies presenter Justin Fletcher officially opened the hotel and performed a live music show to an excited audience of youngsters.

Ben Faulks, who plays Mr Bloom in Mr Bloom’s Nursery, also nipped along to make a star-turn.

Mum Charlotte Brough was one of the first people to visit the hotel with her two young sons.

She said: “Everywhere you look there’s something to see. The kids love it. It took them ages to go to sleep last night because they were so excited.

“Being able to leave the kids to wander off and explore on their own is great. Having people to entertain them means that we have had a bit of time to ourselves as well.”

Her son, five-year-old Leon Brough said: “We can run around and do whatever we want. We can be really noisy and play on the bean bags. I liked eating the little doughnuts with chocolate sauce and jam, they were really messy.”

Senior brand manager Laura Gerrard said: “The plan for the resort is to become the UK’s number one short break destination.”

The hotel also boasts its own restaurant. The eatery serves breakfast, light lunches and dinner and is divided into three sections – the castle area, library area and central area, complete with a windmill salad bar.
