Moira residents will get the chance to celebrate this weekend in style at a community day. People are being invited to the event, which will be held at Moira Village Hall, on Saturday, September 16, and will feature heritage displays, community groups, demonstrations and craft displays.

Visitors will be able to learn about the area and the mining village's history as the Heart of the Forest Heritage Group will be around with a large photographic display of the mining and potteries industry and other local heritage.

Also on display will be the Black to Green project which conserves the industrial heritage and natural history.

The South Derbyshire and Ashby Woulds Amateur Radio Group, Moira Potters, Ashby Canal Society, Ashby Woulds Town Council and local churches will all be around on the day to display what they have been doing.

Refreshments will be served throughout the day by Blackfordby Scouts and there will be a raffle with prizes donated by businesses in the area. The event will take place from 11am until 4pm.
