Prosecco fans are in for a treat this bank holiday weekend as budget supermarket Lidl launches a deal on fizz that’s not to be missed.

Customers of the local Lidls in Belmont Street, Swadlincote; Town Meadows Way, Uttoxeter; and Burton's Derby Street, will be able to buy a case of six of the retailer's Allini Prosecco at a steal for just £20 – saving £11.50 off the normal price – which equates to £3.33 a bottle.

The one-off deal will only be available from August 26 to 27, according to our sister title The Bristol Post .

With a single bottle of Allini Prosecco usually priced at £5.79 at Lidl, shoppers will be quids in and can sip glasses of fizz while soaking up the last of the summer season over the long weekend.

The bargain has been posted on Prosecco Watch, a Prosecco Facebook appreciation page, giving shoppers a "fair warning" about the deal.

The Prosecco has a rating of 85 out of 100 in Lidl's own customer rating system, putting it in the 'very good' category, and has been described as "Very versatile, either on its own or with food. This has the clean, pear drop aromas characteristic of good Prosecco and is light, crisp and fresh on the palate. A little drier than some Proseccos and very moreish" on Lidl's website.

The news follows Lidl's Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc NV being crowned the world's best sparkling wine 'as good as Champagne' in June.

The £7.99 bottle was given the 'Silver Outstanding' award at the International Wine & Spirits Competition this year and was compared to posh champers like Veuve Clicquot's 2008 vintage champagne, which sells for about £50.
