Do you know your Gordon’s from your Hendricks? Your Bombay Sapphire from your Tanqueray? Then Look no further – staff at the Dog and Partridge pub, in Tutbury, are on the hunt for their first ‘Gin-ius’ - and it could be you.

The establishment, on High Street, is searching for an aspiring gin experts to come up with a new gin creation, with the winner bagging themselves:

  • A year’s supply of gin
  • £500 cash prize
  • the title of the pub’s first official ‘Gin-ius’

To be successful, the chosen candidate must demonstrate a wide knowledge and a passion for the nation’s favourite spirit.

The ‘Gin-ius’ will design a new gin cocktail to be added to the pub’s menu later this year.

Donna Murray, general manager at the Dog and Partridge, said: “Gin is undergoing a huge revival and many of us would agree a G&T is our tipple of choice.

“But while we might think we’re a gin expert, how many of us can actually claim to be a fully-fledged ‘Gin-ius’?

“We’re putting this to the test by challenging our guests to share what makes them the ultimate ‘Gin-ius’. Whether you prefer a slice of lime, a dash of cordial or a splash of fruit liqueur, tell us why you think you deserve to be our resident gin advisor and you could bag yourself the ultimate gin-lover’s prize – as well as the title of Chef & Brewer’s first official ‘Gin-ius’.

“We can’t wait to put Tutbury’s gin-eral knowledge to the test!”

The search for Dog and Partridge's first ever ‘Gin-ius’ is taking place to launch Chef and Brewer’s Summer Festival, which own the Tutbury pub.

The Dog and Partridge is launching its ‘Glorious Gins’ range, offering guests a variety of gins to enjoy this summer including Bombay, Hendricks and Warner Edwards Rhubarbs gin.

To be in for a chance of being crowned the new gin-loving king or queen, Tutbury locals simply need to visit the Chef and Brewer website here, explaining why they think they could be the pub’s first ‘Gin-ius’ before Monday, August 7.
