Morrisons has unleashed its latest culinary challenge - 'Volcanic Curry Bag ' - dubbed the UK's hottest supermarket curry meal for two.

Released to coincide with the World Cup, the super spicy meal deal is aimed at extreme curry lovers who find the spice levels in ordinary takeaway bags too tame, with most supermarket bags often containing only semi-hot options or even kormas for chilli wimps.

According to the Mirror, the new bag brings together two fiery new Morrisons products, as well as its Volcanic Vindaloo, made with Naga chillies, and Hot Chicken Tikka Masala, with hard core chilli heads and curry aficionados getting no respite from the heat apart from the rice.

But the best news is, the whole takeaway will only cost a fiver.

The Morrisons 'Volcanic Curry Bag'

Available in Morrisons stores all over the country from until July 22, the new bag will set you back £5, and contains:

  • 1 x Volcanic Vindaloo
  • 1 x Hot Chicken Tikka Masala
  • 2 x Chilli Naans
  • 4 x Spicy Onion Bhajis
  • 1 x pilau rice

The volcanic vindaloo features the world's hottest chilli: the Naga chilli, which carries a Scoville rating of up to one million - 200 times hotter than Tabasco Sauce or a Jalapeño. Hotter than pepper spray, some varieties of naga chilli have been used to develop tear gas grenades due to their extreme heat.

And if that wasn't enough, the dish is then topped with whole green chillis that have been roasted to intensify the flavour and heat, just in case you still have a few tastebuds left.

So it's no surprise that Morrisons' insane Indian dish also carries a warning notice...

Due to its extreme fiery heat, Morrisons has strongly recommended that only people over the age of 16 tackle the bag.

Morrisons' ready meals expert Simon Whittle said: “Chilli fans loved our Volcanic Vindaloo but told us they wanted a whole meal that packed a chilli punch. So we’ve raised our curry game again.

"The Volcanic Curry Bag has been a year in the making. We hope they approve!”

Review by Josh Barrie, Mirror Online's food expert

The dish looks harmless enough – like a classic vindaloo, with a deep, rich colour.

The first mouthful has an intense flavour with earthy spices.

At first, I thought the volcano was dormant as the chicken and sauce combo seemed reserved, with a hint of cumin, ginger and fennel amongst the Naga chilli paste.

But don’t be fooled – the heat builds up gradually and then the eruption hits. My nose started to run and sweat formed halfway through. And the addition of whole green chillies just adds to the pain.

The Volcanic Vindaloo lives up to its name but manages to retain a true curry taste despite the six chilli factor. Not for the faint-hearted.
