Cheese is as important an invention as the wheel in the course of human evolution.

And you can get a load of it for a bargain basement price.

So, anyone with an intolerance to dairy should look away now because one supermarket is flogging cheese for just £5 a kilo.

The price of Cathedral City Mature Cheddar has been sliced, reports the Daily Record.

The deal was originally spotted by a bargain hunter named Tia Redpath in a deals group on Facebook called Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, who revealed that Tesco had cut the price of the cheese.

Considering the family supermarket usually sells the popular cheese for £10 a kilo, it means you can get a whopping 2.5kg block for £12.50.

So, get a slice of the hot cheesy action or you might look like a melt.
