Widely acclaimed classical violinist André Rieu is coming to Birmingham's Genting arena as part of this year's UK and Ireland arena tou 2017. Rieu is one of the best-selling musicians in the world being more popular than some pop acts and will be performing at the venue on December 21.

Having sold a massive 40 million CDs and DVDs and notched 30 number one chart positions worldwide he has got a very impressive record.

Along with his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra (the largest private orchestra in the world), Rieu has created a global revival in waltz music, staging spectacular extravaganzas which are second to none.

Said Rieu: "My concerts are about joy and love! We should make decisions in our lives with our hearts, not our heads. People often ask me 'how do you choose your program?' – The answer is: with my heart."

"I love Johann Strauss but I am also fascinated by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Bruce Springsteen. We should stop limiting ourselves with categories and boundaries – not just in terms of music but in our lives in general."

If you're too impatient to wait until December, you can head down to the cinema to watch him play the Maastricht concert which is being streamed worldwide.

This also has significant importance as it marks 30 years since Rieu formed the Johann Strauss Orchestra. Adult tickets cost £20.70 and the concert will be screened at Cineworld, in Burton, on Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23.

On stage Rieu' incredible musical prowess, passion and charisma make for a magical spectacle. His romantic and fun shows are the only ones where people regularly jump to their feet and dance in the aisles. As people are joined together by the fantastic atmosphere, great music and of course Rieu' fantastic sense of humour.

Tickets to the show at Genting Arena on Thursday, December 21 are priced from £51.75 and available here or by calling 0844 33 88 222.
