Mystery surrounded the identity of a top secret comedian who was set to appear at a South Derbyshire venue earlier this month. Crowds were delighted when the mystery man was revealed to be top stand-up and TV comedian Russell Kane.

The funny man was the headliner at the Laff Attack Comedy Club, at The Chimneys, in Willington, on Friday, September 1. He and has appeared on BBC Live at the Apollo three times and is a regular panelist on BBC's Mock the Week and ITV's Celebrity Juice. He even had his own show, Russell Kane at the Comedy Store, which was shown on Comedy Central.

Laff Attack Comedy Club owner Nick Clarke is hoping that this could be the start of a long list of big names to come to the area.

Mr Clarke, said: "It was a fantastic night. Everyone said how brilliant it was. Russell Kane is a big name and can sell out huge tours. It was great to get him to do such an intimate show in Willington and everyone who came had a great night."

Russell Kane was joined on stage by MC Tim Bradbury, who has been on the UK comedy circuit for more than a decade, and has more than 200 million views on his YouTube channel Tiny Tim.

Russell Kane joins a long list of big names who have been featured in the club's shows including Paul Sinha, from ITV's The Chase; Ricky Grover, who played Dot Cotton's nephew, Andrew in EastEnders, and Scott Capurro, who has appeared on TV's The Stand Up Show.

The club's next show will be held at The Chimneys, in Twyford Road, Willington, on Saturday, November 4 at 7.90pm, and will star Steve Gribbin, Steve Shanyaski and MC Adam Rowe.

Another special guest will also be at the show, but their identity has not yet been confirmed. Tickets for the show can be bought via Laff Attack Comedy Club's website
