Preparations are underway for the very first BurtonFest, as stars from across the country get set to take to the stage on Saturday, July 22.

X Factor winner Matt Terry and popular boy band Union J will headline the festival, which is being held at the National Brewery Centre, in Horninglow Street. Capital FM presenter Roman Kemp will also be performing a one hour DJ set on the main stage.

They will be joined by X Factor finalist Relley C from Birmingham, Galaxy Thief, Jamie Mathias, The Verse, Neverise and Theia among a barrage of local acts.

The festival will start at noon and run until midnight, and there will be plenty to do on the day, including outdoor bars, eateries, festival style stalls and more.

Alcohol will be sold at the venue, but Challenge 25 will be in operation, so don’t forget to bring along your ID. Bringing your own alcohol into the event is not permitted.

Entry to the festival will be via Guild Street, and security staff will be on hand to check your bags before you will be allowed to enter the venue.

Matt Terry will also be headlining the event

Event organiser Adam Cornes said: “I have been hosting events showcasing the next generation of singers and bands all over the UK for the last four years.

“As a Burton resident I now want to focus on local artists as well as bringing other talented and headline performers to the town. BurtonFest is an exciting project which will hopefully grow each year and become an amazing annual event.”

Headliners Union J found fame on The X Factor in 2012 before going on to release their debut single Carry You which feature in superhero film Kick-Ass 2. Matt Terry won the X Factor in 2016, beating the infamous Honey G to nab the crown.

There will be three stages at the festival; the main stage for the headlines, the ViewMyGig Live stage and the Acoustic Box. Merchandise stalls will also be at the event where visitors can purchase souvenirs.

A spokesman from the National Brewery Centre said: “This is a fantastic new event for Burton and we are very pleased to be hosting it in partnership with the creator, Adam Cornes. It really will have something for everyone and will be a great day of live music.”

Tickets are still available for the festival priced £20. A group booking of four tickets will cost £60 and can be purchase online here or by calling 01283 532880.
