An up and coming DJ from Stretton is heading for the dizzy heights of fame after signing to the same record company as chart topper Ed Sheeran.

DJ Nathan Dawe has been collecting a large following over the years and is fresh from headlining his own sold-out show at Birmingham's O2 arena.

At only 23 years old he has already been spending the summer months abroad in such dance capitals like Ibiza, and also made his debut at the top UK dance festival Creamfields in front of 30,000 music fans.

Now Nathan has signed to major label Atlantic Records, which is part of the Warner Music Group, as he prepares to release his debut single Cheatin' on Friday, August 10.

Nathan has thousands of fans up and down the country

As well as Thinking Out Loud singer Ed Sheeran, the label also includes the likes of Bruno Mars, Charlie Puth, Coldplay, and David Guetta.

Nathan said: "It’s still not really sunk in yet if I’m being honest. I’ve signed to one of the world's biggest record labels and when you put it like that, it’s mental.

"Atlantic reached out to my manager when they heard my new single ‘Cheatin’. They loved the record and wanted to snap it up straight away.

"The faith and belief they showed in me and the future plans they presented to us made it an easy decision.

"So, very shortly after reaching out to us, a deal was made and I signed the contract!

"When the announcement was made my phone went crazy for 48 hours. I’ve never received so many notifications.

"It was really nice to see how happy and proud people were of me."

Nathan featured in the Burton Mail at the beginning of his first residency at The Leopard Inn in the town, when he was just 15, before landing a Saturday night residency at the former Bullit nightclub, in Burton, when he was 16.

He went on to join Fever nightclub in 2013.

As well as working in Ibiza, he has also been spinning records across Ayia Napa in Cyprus and Marbella.

Nathan's first headline gig in Birmingham caused a storm

He said: “We’ve got loads of exciting projects in the pipeline but right now all our focus is on my upcoming single release on August 10.

"Cheatin’ is a commercial record that’s doing really well in the clubs, the support has been phenomenal.

“I really do hope the single does well when it’s released officially. It will be available on all platforms such as iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and I would be so grateful for as much home town support as possible.”

Nathan will be headlining the O2 in Birmingham again later this year. More information on this date will be released soon.
