Two of East Staffordshire’s best-loved and most well-established acts will take to the stage together for a very special night of music.

Uttoxeter blues-rock act the Vice-Bishops hold monthly musical meets at Doveridge Village Club, in Sand Lane, called Meet on the Ridge.

Each month, a different guest artist is invited to perform a set of their own material, before the Bishops play a set. The night usually ends with the Bishops and their guest act performing a barn-storming collaborative set.

And, on Friday, August 11, the accomplished bluesmen will welcome long-time friend and associate Pete Oakley to the club.

Oakley is known around East Staffordshire for his exceptional guitar playing, singing and song-writing – as well as running the area’s most popular music shop, Pete Oakley Music, in Station Street, Burton.

When he plays at Doveridge, Oakley will deliver his own inimitable brand of country blues licks and smooth vocals.

The show will get under way at around 8.30pm and entry to the club will cost just £3. The Bishops will play fresh from their face-melting show with incredible American jazz trio BD Lenz.

New Jersey natives Lenz performed an incredible set as part of their ongoing UK tour – and then played at Bishops front man Dave Faulkner’s son Bob’s wedding party the next day.
