Just days remain until one of the most popular live music weekenders returns for its 10th edition. Marchington Melee will see five quality acts take to the stage between Friday and Sunday, August 18 and 20.

The Melee has been an unprecedented success in recent years, having attracted huge crowds to a giant marquee attached to the Dog and Partridge, in Church Lane. And another mouth-watering line-up of acts has been put together by landlord and promoter Paul Needham.

Opening proceedings on the Friday night at 8pm will be singer-songwriter Richard Castle, featuring Tim Brunt, the virtuoso lead guitarist of the Shelter.

The duo are stepping in to replace originally-booked act Juke Joint Jammers, who are no longer playing the Melee.

Headling the Friday night are Scott McCall and the Tenderspots. They play an eclectic mix of rootsy Americana, rock, country, blues and pop.

McCall was born and grew up in Derby and initially played in city band The Four Aces. He also played with The House of the Blues and Thorndike Mordacia’s Imagination, even supporting Pink Floyd at one point in the 1960s.

Acoustic duo the Herron Brothers will take to the stage on the Saturday night, followed by Dawson Smith and the Dissenters. The Dissenters are a blues and rock act with a catalogue of acclaimed work.

Tim Brunt will play his second show of the weekend when his band, The Shelter, play an acoustic set at around 5pm on the Sunday.

The four-piece indie act have become firm favourites in the Uttoxeter music scene, with many of their songs being inspired by front man Julian Parker's upbringing in Uttoxeter.

They are heavily influenced by new wave and punk music from the 1970s and 80s and are fresh from a well-received set at Dovefest. More information about Marchington Melee 10 is available online here or by calling the pub on 01283 820394.
