For a girl who has followed the Fresh Prince since he was the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, the Livewire Festival in Blackpool was where I simply HAD to be.

And it seems 20,000 people agreed with me as we all shuffled into the temporary arena under the shadow of the Blackpool Tower for the only UK appearance of Will Smith and his nineties hiphop partner DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jeffrey Townes).

The duo aren't on tour but decided to join forces for two special one-off concerts - the first in Croatia, followed by the appearance in Blackpool the next day.

And they proved they could still shake the room with their spot-on performance, as Will Smith controlled the microphone and Jeff at the controls.

The noise from the crowd was deafening as the pair rolled out hit after hit and took us back through 30 years of showbusiness. We were euphoric from beginning to end.

I was obviously joining the screamers while shakily holding on tight to my phone, hoping to get the very best pictures. Thanks to my husband we had managed to find ourselves on the second row and within arms-length (wishful thinking) of Will Smith.

They opened the set with pyrotechnics lighting the stage which Will reportedly paid £40,000 of his own cash for, and the I, Robot star was lifted into view.

Of course, one of their most popular hits was the opening track - Boom! Shake the Room - which was designed to get us all dancing and singing, as smoke machines added to the atmosphere of the night.

I don't think I could quite believe Will Smith was so close to me. The man who shot to fame in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air still managing to wow his fans after all these years.

Will wowed the 20,000-strong crowd

He delivered everything we needed from Gettin' Jiggy Wit It, the soundtrack to Men in Black - the blockbuster movie which he starred in - and classic hit Miami.

Will needn't have bothered rapping. Twenty thousand people were doing it for him as we were taken back to our childhoods with the likes of Girls Ain't Nothing but Trouble and Parents Just Don't Understand – with the Oscar-nominated star proudly declaring it was a Grammy winner.

We were also treated to their hit Just the Two of Us which Will famously wrote following the birth of his first son, Trey. Photos of the two were then beamed into the audience. Such a lovely moment was later revealed to be chosen by one audience member to propose to his girlfriend. And she said yes.

Later on the musical duo revealed they had been working on new music and we were the first to hear Get Lit. Of course, to us, it didn't disappoint and it has taken them into the dance music foray and is expected to go global.

Any concert by Will Smith held in August has to include his classic Summertime which led to a thundering round of applause.

It was followed by one his later hits, Switch, before he said his goodbyes and ran off stage. Surely, he wouldn't leave us without play his famous theme tune Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?

We didn't believe it so to chants of "We want more" he eventually reappeared to get us what we needed.

Will performed a range of his famous hits

The concert was brought to a spectacular end with a fireworks display across the Irish Sea. And I trotted back to the hotel with a large smile on my face.

For 20,000 of his fans we couldn't believe we had just witnessed the reforming of Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff. It goes to prove how popular they have always been and for one hour 20,000 like-minded people came together.

Their appearance brought to a close a three-day festival which welcomed the likes of The Jacksons who kicked off proceedings, followed by the Hit Factory which saw the likes of 80s stars such as Sinitta and Sam Fox perform.

Supporting Will Smith on the final day was The Voice Israel winner Lina who had been personally picked by the stars to perform.

For many fans this was a dream come true

Blackpool girl group Tiger S, fresh from touring with Peter Andre, performed a selection of their songs. But the party really got going with Phats and Small who turned up the volume with their greatest hit Turn Around, followed by a range of popular dance classics.

Blackpool Tower provided the backdrop for the festival

They led the way for American rapper Fat Man Scoop which brought fun to the crowd with a mix of past hits.

An incredible night and one that 20,000 people will never forget.
