Nightclub chiefs are confident their new venue will be ready for opening tonight, July 13 - but there is still "a lot of work to do".

Workmen are busy sanding, sawing and tidying to transform the top floor of Fever into Manhattans. Last month, new boss Pete Terry announced plans to turn the High Street club into Society and Manhattans.

It will be modelled on his successful club in Uttoxeter, which has become the town's top venue. After Manhattans has opened upstairs, work will start to turn the ground floor into Society, a classy cocktail bar.

General manager Adam Perry said: "We've just had a brand new light-up dance floor, which has cost a lot of money. It's state of the art and not many place have them at the moment.

"There's a brand new DJ box and the whole floor has been moved around a fair bit. The bar will be a lot bigger than it used to be and it'll be a light-up bar.

"There'll be loads of glitter balls, sparkling walls and it'll be an absolute party venue. We'll be catering for all ages and will play music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and noughties.

"If you can sing it, we'll play it. There's a lot still to do, but on Friday at 10pm it'll be an amazing night."
