Vital funds for potentially-lifesaving prostate cancer tests will be raised at a hotly-anticipated annual beer festival in Uttoxeter.

Party on the Pitch is the new name of Uttoxeter Lions' annual two-day beer festival, which attracts hundreds of visitors every year.

This year's extravaganza will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9, with a host of music acts taking to the stage at Oldfields Sports and Social Club.

And all the proceeds will go towards the next year's free prostate testing event hosted by the Lions. It is estimated the tests, conducted at Uttoxeter Racecourse, have saved 75 lives in five years.

The Lions' Steve Shields said: "No expense has been spared to get arguably the most acclaimed Robbie Williams tribute act, Marc Hockley, for the Friday night.

"Also on the bill will be Acoustic Anarchy, a duo covering hits from the 60s to today’s charts. Doors open at 4pm, with the music starting at 7pm.

"The Saturday begins at 1pm, with local singer-guitarist Jason Callear opening the entertainment at about 3pm.

"A little later, Play It Again Sam, the hugely-experienced four-piece band will take over with a wide variety of songs to get the party going.

"Finally, from about 8.30pm, back by popular demand, Upfront will get everyone dancing through to the close."

Alongside the music, there will be 24 real ales, 12 ciders and a gin and Prosecco bar.

Lions president Terry Adams said: "Ticket sales have been extremely good and although we have said that entry on the night is possible, certainly for Friday, if tickets keep going at the same rate we may have to call a halt earlier.

"Saturday is less of a problem because of the longer hours and some of the real ale buffs want to be nearer the bar than the stage."

Tickets, which are £6.50 each day or £10 for both days, can be obtained from Oldfields, Steve Shields on 01889 565522, Terry Adams 01889 566388 or online at www.uttoxeterbeerfestival.co.uk
