Supermarket chain Aldi has issued a warning to shoppers over a potential problem with one of its products.

The Asia Specialities range of soy sauces has been shipped in packaging which could be defective says the store.

This could pose a possible health risk to consumers. The affected sauces are both Dark and Light varieties, with barcodes 252511111 or 25326758, best before May 2019 to December 2019.

A spokesman for Aldi said: "As a precautionary measure we have initiated a recall of this product as there is a possibility that the packaging is damaged and small pieces of the packaging could enter the product.

"Customers are advised not to consume the product and are asked to return the product to the nearest store, where a full refund will be given.

"We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation."
