Tesco has announced changes to its Clubcard Boost scheme - and it's not great news if you use it.

The supermarket giant has Reward Partners including restaurants like Zizzi, Pizza Express and Prezzo and cinema chains Cineworld and Odeon - and shoppers can 'boost' the points they earn at the tills to get money off at these businesses and more.

Until now, the boosted vouchers were four times the value of the points earned - but now these will only be worth three times as much.

So where a Clubcard voucher for £2.50 would have been £10 to spend, now families will only be able to get £7.50 for the same voucher, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Clubcard customers get points every time they shop at the supermarket and are sent vouchers four times a year - with the amount depending on how much they've spent.

Tesco says the change has been made to 'make things easier' because some places only allowed a double up before and now all 'reward partners' will offer the same - three times the value.

In an email to customers, it said: "We want to let you know about a change we’re making to the value of the Clubcard vouchers you use with our Reward Partners.

"Previously your vouchers were worth 2 times their value with some of our Reward Partners – and others were worth 4 times.

"We’ve decided to make things easier. From today, you’ll get 3 times the value of your vouchers across the majority of our Reward Partners at tesco.com/clubcard/boost.

This won’t affect any orders you may have already placed with our Reward Partners that are worth 4 times the value."

It's not the first time Tesco has angered customers with its changes to its Clubcard account.

In 2016 it scrapped its Clubcard Boost events which gave customers a chance to double the value of their vouchers to spend on departments in store.

The supermarket promised its revamp of the card would bring extra value for customers 'the whole year round'.
