Two familiar faces made famous on TV screens are on their way to Etwall to treat avid antiques fans to free valuations.

Kate Bliss and Lars Tharp are well-known for their expertise on all things antiques but they will be swapping the cameras for face to face valuations with residents later this month.

Jewellery expert Kate has appeared on Bargain Hunt and Flog It! among other programmes and will be carrying out free jewellery and watch valuations at Hansons Auctioneers, in Heage Lane, from 10am unitl 4pm, on Thursday, September 7.

Also coming to Hansons this month, Danish-born British historian, Lars Tharp is a lecturer and broadcaster, and one of the longest running experts on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow. He first appeared on the popular TV series in 1986.

Lars, who lives in Leicestershire, specialises in Chinese ceramics and works of art and is looking forward to seeing an ancient Chinese plate, which was unearthed in South Derbyshire.

The item has recently been handed over to auction at Hansons with an estimate of £60,000. A replica of the dish has also been discovered on display in The National Museum of China.

Lars will be at Hansons Auctioneers from 10am until 4pm, on Monday, September 11, to carry out free Asian ceramics and works of art valuations. Any appointments to see him need to be made in advance on 01283 733988.
