Ten-year-old Lara Gardner has launched an appeal to raise vital funds so she can realise her dream of joining one the top dance schools in the UK.

The Albert Village girl is hoping to attend The Hammond, in Chester, in September after winning a much sought-after scholarship for the school, which she would attend until the age of 21.

After a hard-fought interview process and competing against hundreds of keen dancers hoping to win a place, the school offered Lara just part of the money she needs for her to attend the school. Her family is aiming to raise the £4,500 per term for the next five years to put the youngster through the school.

Lara has been dancing since she was just 18 months old and is a member of the Elite Academy of Performing Arts, in Lichfield. She dances for more than 18 hours every week.

The school girl said her whole life revolves around dancing, saying: “I love ballet. I can't stop dancing even round the house, I go into my own little world when I dance and forget everything."

Lara’s mother, Julie, stated that even with Lara receiving the scholarship, the family cannot afford the rest of the fees.

Mrs Gardner said: “We have lots of fund-raising events coming up including bingo nights, psychic nights, the list is endless. We are trying to appeal to all kinds of people.”

Mrs Gardner has also set up a Facebook page in the name of ‘Lara Gardner fund-raising' to give people a list of events and fund-raising opportunities coming up for Lara.

A Crowdfunding website has also been set up to raise money for the cause, which can be found online here, or people can contact Mrs Garnder on 07971 268943.
