A star-studded performance of Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband is set to be shown at a Burton cinema, broadcast live from a top London theatre.

Well-known actors will be taking to the stage at London's Vaudeville Theatre in London however, Burtonians will not have to travel very far to see the action, as it will be screened at Cineworld at Middleway Park on Tuesday, June 5, at 7.15pm.

The cast includes father and son due, Edward Fox, known for The Day of the Jackal and son Freddie, star of The Judas Kiss.

Also taking to the stage will be Olivier Award winner Nathaniel Parker, from Wolf Hall and Olivier Award nominee Frances Barber from BBC's Silk.

They will be joined by Not Going Out actress Sally Bretton and Monarch of the Glen star, Susan Hampshire.

The performance, directed by Jonathan Church, brings out an act of political sin into the heart of the English Home. As an ambitious government minister, Sir Robert Chiltern's smooth ascent to the top seems assured until Mrs Cheveley appears in London with damning proof of his financial chicanery.

The show will be broadcast live to 420 cinemas across the UK and Ireland as part of the Classic Spring Theatre Company's year-long Oscar Wilde season at the Vaudeville Theatre.

The show has a certificate of 12A and will run for around two and a half hours with one interval.

Later on this year, The Importance of Being Earnest will be shown in cinemas on Tuesday, October 9.
