Twycross Zoo has a new feature which is sure going to excite people of all ages.

Following the launch of the new Chimpanzee Eden space, the zoo has now installed specially designed climbing frames allowing its thousands of visitors to see chimps close up.

Bosses at Twycross Zoo say the new feature will do the Leicestershire venue proud.

The new 1,160sqm Chimpanzee Eden opened last month.

But now the time has come for the troop to explore the equally impressive open air element of their new home.

In keeping with the interior, Chimpanzee Eden’s outdoor climbing frames have been specifically designed to replicate the physical and mental challenges they face within their natural environment.

Now visitors can enjoy a close up glimpse of the great Apes as they thunder through glass tunnels connecting the inside to their outside adventure.

Dr Sharon Redrobe, Twycross Zoo chief executive, said: “This is the culmination of many years of hard work by our staff in getting the biggest group of chimps together that Twycross Zoo has ever had, then designing and building such a wonderful place for them all.

“I hope our founders Miss Badham and Miss Evans would be proud and thank them for their legacy which made building this possible.

"We look forward to more chimps arriving in the coming years and continuing our reputation as International experts in Ape care.”
