All lines reopen, delays expected until 12pm

All lines have since reopened following the earlier incident involving a person collision with a train between Nottingham and Derby.

The incident took place near Attenborough, in Nottinghamshire, and caused major disruption to East Midlands Trains and CrossCountry services.

All lines have since reopened and services are up and running but a spokesman for National Rail said disruptions and cancellations should be expected up to 12pm this afternoon.

East Midlands Trains issue statement on incident

A spokesman for East Midlands Trains said other train operators are accepting the company’s tickets between Nottingham and King’s Cross, via Grantham.

“Trains between Beeston and Long Eaton /East Midlands Parkway are being disrupted because of a person hit by a train near Attenborough.

“This is between Beeston and Long Eaton / East Midlands Parkway and is disrupting our trains on London St Pancras / Nottingham / Sheffield, Matlock / Derby / Newark and Leicester / Lincoln / Grimsby routes.

“The line is currently closed. All of our trains on the route cannot run in either direction between Beeston and Long Eaton/East Midlands Parkway.

“Trains may be cancelled or diverted at short notice, we will be able to provide a more detailed plan shortly. Your Advance purchase ticket may be used on other trains, than booked on the affected routes.

“Other train operators will accept East Midlands Trains tickets between Nottingham and London King’s Cross via Grantham.”

Person collided with train between Nottingham and Derby

Traffic information website Inrix reports that a person has collided with a train between Nottingham and Derby.

The incident is causing delays and some cancellations on East Midlands Trains between these stations.

All CrossCountry trains have been cancelled between Nottingham and Derby.
