There are heavy delays on the high street in Burton today, with one eye witness claiming that cars have been turning around in the street to get out of the traffic.

Traffic is building due to the ongoing work on St Peter’s Bridge in the town, with drivers having to explore alternate routes to get in and out of Burton.

Accident on A50 closes stretch of road

A stretch of the A50 westbound has been closed following an accident outside the JCB International House between A522 and Pigeonhay Lane.

Congestion has built up on the road and is backed up to B5030 Ashbourne Road.

The A444 Stapenhill Road on the way into Burton is experiencing heavy traffic, due to the closure of St Peter’s Bridge.

The traffic is building from where the road meets A511 Ashby Road, and is affecting both roads.
