Woman searches Swadlincote in a hunt to find her long lost father after 28 years
A Liverpool woman whose father left her on the day she was born 28 years ago has launched a search for him in the Swadlincote area.
Nicole Dunn claims that her father left her home town the day she was born in 1989 and never came back. Her mother, Paula Dunn, was then left to raise Nicole alone despite the fact the couple had got married just six months previously in December 1988.

Travellers believed to have moved on to the Riverside Hotel in Branston
A group of travellers are believed to have set up camp in the grounds of the Riverside Hotel in Branston this afternoon.
An eyewitness claimed that staff are stopping people from entering the premises and two caravans are on site at the Riverside Hotel on Riverside Drive, Branston.

Jackknifed lorry causing delays on the M1
Drivers using the M1 southbound are being warned of large delays after a lorry jackknifed before J29 A617 / A6175 for Chesterfield and Mansfield. One lane is blocked and there is a build up of slow traffic on approach to the roundabout.
Accident near Swadlincote causing tailbacks
An accident at the A514 Southbound near to the B587 is causing problems for commuters on route to A50 J3 for Swadlincote and Melbourne. The accident,which happened half way along the bridge, has resulted in heavy traffic between Swarkestone and Stanton by Bridge.
Roadworks causing delays in Winshill
Drivers using the A511 Ashby Road in Winshill are being warned of delays as slow traffic builds up in the roadworks area around Alexandra Road
Bin collections in Burton, Uttoxeter and South Derbyshire on Bank Holiday Monday
Residents in Burton, Uttoxeter and South Derbyshire have been alerted to changes to bin collections in the area on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28.
South Derbyshire District Council have confirmed that the last bin collection will take place on Saturday, August 26, and there will be no further collections until Tuesday, August 29.

Named and shamed: Seven prolific shoplifters who caused massive crime spike in Swadlincote after prison release
Seven prolific shoplifters blamed for a massive surge in crime in Swadlincote after they were released from prison at the same time can now be named and shamed - following months of painstaking police work.
Officers changed their shifts in a bid to arrest Leon Tilt, Jordan Burgess, Daniel Singleton, Christopher Knight, Rebecca Portsmouth, Matthew Kendall and Michael Kavanagh after they embarked on a shoplifting spree across Swadlincote town centre in a short time period, leading to a 56 per cent spike in crime figures.

A man has been arrested following a police chase on the A38 in Branston. At around 9.55pm yesterday, on Tuesday, August 23, officers from Staffordshire Police spotted a vehicle being driven erratically on the A38 Branston Underpass and a pursuit ensued. Read more here...

Motorcyclist taken to hospital after collision with a car in Overseal
A motorcyclist was taken to hospital following a collision with a car which closed off a road in South Derbyshire.
A Honda motorbike and a Seat Leon vehicle were involved in the incident, in Moira Road, Overseal. Derbyshire Police were alerted by East Midlands Ambulance Service to the scene at 5.50pm on Tuesday, August 22.
Travellers still reported pitched up in business park in Branston
Travellers are still pitched up in the car park of a Branston business park. Around two or three caravans are still on site off Second Avenue, and a police van is parked up blocking the entrance.

Appeal for witnesses following fatal Derby collision
Witnesses are sought after by the Independent Police Complaints Commission which has started an investigation into a fatal collision at Alvaston, near Derby, last night on Monday, August 21.
One man died and another was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the incident on the A6.
The man who died is believed to be in his 20s.
