An investigation is under way after arsonists are believed to have targeted a disused farm building in Uttoxeter.

Firefighters from Tutbury and Longton, near Stoke, were called to the blaze in a corrugated shed in Demontfort Way, Uttoxeter, just after 6pm last night, August 8.

Rubbish had been set on fire and emergency services believe the blaze was started deliberately.

A spokesman from Staffordshire Police said: "At approximately 6pm a fire broke out at an unoccupied property off Highwood Road, behind Demontfort Way in Uttoxeter.

"The fire service was called and the fire was brought under control and extinguished. The fire is thought to have been started deliberately.

"Police enquiries are in hand and are going well."

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "Crews were called to a report of a fire in a disused farm building off Demontfort Way, Uttoxeter, at around 6.15pm on Tuesday August 8.

"The fire consisted of rubbish which was set alight in a eight by five metre corrugated shed."

Anyone with information, or who saw anything suspicious, should call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 649 of August 8.
