Burton Albion are more likely to be relegated than promoted next season, according to the bookmakers.

The Brewers are preparing for only their second ever campaign in League One following last season's relegation from the Championship.

Albion will be aiming to bounce back at the first attempt - and league sponsors SkyBet are offering 8/1 odds of them doing just that, whether it be automatically or through the play-offs.

That leaves them behind nine teams in the betting order, while they are level at 8/1 with nine other sides.

But SkyBet have the Brewers at shorter odds - 6/1 - to suffer back-to-back relegations and drop into League Two, meaning they reckon it is more likely they will be playing in the fourth tier than the second tier in 2019-20.

Fellow relegated clubs Sunderland and Barnsley are 11/10 and 10/3 respectively to be promoted back to the Championship come May, making them favourites and second favourites respectively.

Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth - who signed Tom Naylor on a three-year deal last week - are next in the promotion odds at 7/2 apiece, with Luton Town and Scunthorpe United at 9/2 and Peterborough United at 11/2.

In the relegation betting, League Two champions Accrington Stanley are favourites for the drop at 5/4.

Gillingham (11/8), Wycombe Wanderers (11/8) and Walsall (15/8) follow them in the list.
