Delays on the M1 in Derbyshire due to an accident

Commuters heading on the M1 in Derbyshire are warned of delays due to an accident.

Drivers are experiencing delays on the northbound carriageway between J25 A52 Brian Clough Way (Nottingham / Derby) and J26 A610 (Nottingham / Eastwood). One lane is closed but traffic and travel website Inrix said traffic is coping well.

Tatenhill road to be closed until December as residents prepare to discuss a further three month closure set for next year

A major road in Burton is to be closed for three weeks longer than scheduled after unmarked cabling was found underground - sparking more anger amongst local residents.

Staffordshire County Council has revealed that the discovery of the telecoms cable located within the new drainage works means that Branston Road, in Tatenhill, will now need to be closed to traffic until December 6, to allow further work at the site.

Broken down vehicle causing congestion of Swarkesone Bridge

Drivers heading on Swarkestone Bridge are warned to expect delays. There is congestion on the A514 to A5132 Barrow Lane due to an earlier broken down vehicle.

There is slow moving traffic in the area.

Midland Classic says it is currently experiencing delays of around 20 to 30 minutes on services around Burton.

Mother speaks out after former Ashby butcher Mark Rawlinson abused her daughter

A mother has spoken about how her daughter was sexually abused by a former Ashby butcher. His crimes went unpunished for years but Mark Rawlinson has now been jailed for 18 years after being found guilty of more than 20 sexual offences following a trial.

Determined to encourage more people to come forward about any abuse they might have suffered at his hands, a mother from west Hull has revealed how her daughter was abused by the “monster”.

Arsonists are suspected to have started a fire which meant a family had to flee their home

Police suspect arsonists were behind a fire at a house in Swadlincote which meant a family had to flee because the blaze was close to a gas pipe.

The family, including three children, had to flee their home in Union Road on Thursday, November 2, after rubbish caught fire outside, close to a gas supply. Police suspect the fire was the work of arsonists, they have said.

A brave JCB security guard has been hailed for saving a woman’s life after pulling her from a burning car - just moments before it exploded.

Hero Adam Sharman dragged the woman driver to safety after witnessing a car crash on his way home from work.

The fake Asda coupon is wanting shoppers to celebrate the supermarket chain’s 68th anniversary and that the retailer is offering everyone a £250 voucher. However, they are nothing but a scam, experts have warned.

A man has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in Burton town centre. Staffordshire Police arrested the male in High Street at 3.50am, on Friday, November 3.

The force confirmed the arrest on their official Twitter account, saying: “Male arrested on Burton High Street at 3.50am for driving a motor while under the influence of alcohol. Don’t drink and drive!”

Five cars involved in a crash on the A38 causing havoc for commuters heading into Burton

Five cars have been involved in a crash on the A38 this morning, Tuesday, November 7.

The accident happened on the northbound side of the dual carriageway near Clay Mills and is causing huge tailbacks on both sides.

On the roads...

As usual, there is traffic building on the A444 Stapenhill Road and A511 Ashby Road, due to St Peter’s Bridge being closed - but it will be opening soon!

Meanwhile, motorists on the M1 southbound close to East Midlands Airport are facing delays of up to 20 minutes in the roadworks area.

No major incidents have been reported on the road but we will keep you updated throughout the day.
